Raquel Bryan | Author

Raquel L. Bryan, affectionately known as Raquel’s Barber Life, is a visionary entrepreneur, educator, and children’s author from Beaufort, South Carolina. Raised in Jasper County and a proud alumna of Ridgeland High School, Raquel discovered her passion for barbering at an early age. She earned her Master Hair Care License at the Beaufort-Jasper Academy for Career Excellence (CATE) from 2005–2008 and went on to inspire future generations as Barber Instructor at her alma mater in 2013.

Raquel is the proud owner of Creative Cutz Barbershop, established in 2014, and the founder of Cutting Insecurities, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth and adults to overcome fear, build confidence, and embrace self-worth. Her journey as a barber, educator, and now author has been guided by her mission to uplift others—proving that transformation begins both inside and out.

After earning an associate’s degree in business with a certificate in entrepreneurship and small business from the Technical College of the Lowcountry, and later a bachelor’s degree in business administration for marketing, Raquel combined her creative and business passions to build a legacy rooted in purpose.

Her debut children’s book, Jasper’s First Haircut Journey, captures the excitement, fear, and confidence-building experience of a child’s first haircut. Through storytelling, Raquel hopes to help children embrace change, build courage, and celebrate growth—one haircut at a time.

When she’s not behind the chair or mentoring aspiring barbers, Raquel enjoys engaging with the community, speaking to students about career confidence, and promoting her message:
“We don’t just cut hair, we cut insecurities in the process.”
